I have been embracing AI tools for several years, but 2026 has been a transformative year for me. From my articles to researching topics for my blog to managing daily tasks, AI has become something I look forward to. So, here are the 10 AI tools that I honestly use every day to save myself some time at work and at school.
The Stanford AI Index Report 2026 reports that the use of AI in enterprises is rising, with organizations leveraging AI to enhance their productivity and decision-making processes. I can vouch for this. With these tools, people have revolutionized their working lives, and I think you can too.
1. ChatGPT: My All-Purpose Assistant.
ChatGPT is my most frequently used AI application. I use it for everything from drafting emails and brainstorming ideas to summarizing long documents to debugging code. The reasoning power has also been significantly upgraded with GPT-5.5, which helps me to complete more complicated tasks.
I use ChatGPT to guide and enhance my writing for articles. In school, I use it to clarify and create study guides of tricky concepts. The use of the Custom GPTs feature is especially helpful, as I've created my own GPT, which is trained on my writing style.
Ideal for: Writing, research, brainstorming, and coding help.
Claude: My Deep Work Partner.
When I need to process a long document or write thoughtful and well-reasoned content, I resort to Claude, from Anthropic. It can process up to 200,000 tokens, which is equivalent to reading a whole book or lengthy report and then asking a question about a specific section.

I've used Claude to go over contracts, edit research papers, and even write LinkedIn posts with my voice. The writing style is neutral and professional, making it ideal for formal documents.
Ideal for: Long-form writing; understanding documents; planning strategies.
3. Perplexity AI: My Research Companion.
It's hard to overstate how much Perplexity has enhanced my research process. Perplexity is not a search engine like Google, but rather it merges the power of searching the web with AI-generated responses and offers citations that are verifiable.
I always check information for my articles on Perplexity first. It takes me a lot of time off of searching manually, as it gives me all the information I need in a timely and concise manner.
Ideal for: Research, fact-checking, and market analysis.
Notion AI: My Knowledge Hub.
I'm a big fan of Notion as my personal knowledge base, and I love it even more with the addition of Notion AI. It allows me to keep meeting notes, lists of tasks, action items, and answers to questions in all my documents.
A lot of startups are adopting Notion AI as an internal channel to know their company, and I'm in their shoes. It is essential when dealing with a number of projects and keeps things tidy and searchable!
Works well for knowledge management and project management.
5. Canva AI: My Design Shortcut
I am not a graphic designer, and Canva AI makes me feel like one. The Magic Studio provides me with the ability to make professional presentations, social media graphics, and marketing without advanced design skills.
Canva AI is my favorite for creating a thumbnail for a blog post or a graphic for social media when I need it quickly. It saves my time and provides me with a polished and professional product.
Ideal for: Design, presentations, and social media graphics.
6. Grammarly: My Writing Editor
I have been using Grammarly for years, and it's one of my most helpful tools! It assists me with rewriting content, tone adaptations, clarity, or finding inconsistencies in my writing.
For academic writing especially, Grammarly ensures that my work is polished and professional. I have Grammarly run all articles and essays before publishing or turning in.
Best for: Writing and editing for a professional purpose.
7. Otter.ai: My Meeting Assistant
I'm very active in many virtual meetings and Otter. AI helps me never miss anything. It automatically takes notes and summarizes meetings, transcribes meetings in real time, identifies speakers, and generates searchable meeting history.
This tool has replaced manual notetaking for calls. I can pay attention to what's being said, knowing that Otter will take notes for me.
Ideal for: Meeting transcriptions and summaries.
8. NotebookLM: My Study Partner
School and research have both benefited from the invaluable use of NotebookLM. Can upload PDFs, documents, meeting notes, etc. and generate an AI-based knowledge assistant to help me grasp complex content.
I have used NotebookLM to organize academic articles and make study decks. It's as if you have a personal tutor that has read everything you've read and can answer your questions about it.
Ideal for: Students, researchers, and content creators.
9. Cursor: My Coding Companion
While I am primarily a writer, I do some coding for my website. It's no surprise that Cursor is one of the fastest-growing AI coding tools around, given its capabilities. It has a grasp of entire projects and can write code, debug applications, and generate documentation.
The agent feature to be used in the different repos is impressive. It can read through my entire code and check for problems and suggest solutions without having to explain all this from scratch.
Ideal for: Software Development/Coding.
10. Wispr Flow: My Voice-to-Text Assistant
If my hands get tired writing, I use Wispr Flow to transcribe my natural speech into clean text. Ideal for quick writing, note-taking, and content generation.
My favorite use of this tool is for brainstorming or writing articles. I just type, and Wispr Flow turns them into perfect text.
